Who would have expected this? Me, Matt Sasso, starting a series of columns with the division that contains the New York Giants. I know what you're thinking, and yes I AM always this unpredictable.
These lists will go in order of last years division standings, and I will not be predicting standings here. This is just an objective view on what has happened with these teams over the offseason and a general educated guess of how they will fair in 2010.
Lets get this started. The NFC East has been very up and down the last few seasons. At one part of the season they will look like the best division in football, the NFC Beast, then later on they will all look terrible with the exception of one random team a year. Who will it be this year? More after the jump.

2010 Pre-Season Predictions
On the rise
-Jason Campbell and the Raiders
If you had told me a year ago that the Oakland Raiders could be favorites to with their division I would have laughed in your face. It's funny how quickly things can change. If any team dramatically improved in the off-season it would have to be Oakland, as they adressed nearly all of their problems. They cut the tumor that was draft-bust Jamarcus Russell from their roster, and acquired the young, talented Jason Campbell from the Redskins. That by itself would have been a significant improvement, however the rouges of the NFL didn't stop there as they did something that nobody would have guessed: They had a good draft. When the Raiders announced their first pick in the draft, everyone across the country was fully expecting yet another poor pick, one on Matt Millen level of awfulness. However, instead of another Jamarcus, the Raiders made a smart, safe choice and drafted LB Rolando McClain. The rest of their draft was on a similar tone of making smart choices, nothing mind-blowing, but players who they can help to rebuild their franchise with.

Maseo (Lil Mamba)
Remember when ESPN was following LeBron in high school and we all thought that was amazing? That's nothing! This kid is 8 years old and already he has received slight attention from Kobe Bryant. Black Mamba nicknamed him Maseo, which means Little Mamba. Kid's a baller and I find this video hilarious and very impressive.

Cheerleading Officially Not a Sport
Finally! We have officially knocked one off the list. Today a federal judge decided that it cannot be called a sport. The Reuters story is here as MSNBC. Now that we have that settled we are almost there! All we have to do is get rid of NASCAR, golf, swimming, dancing, figure skating, curling, poker, girls sports, WWE, billiards, ping pong, UFC, spelling bees...
Also, this website is AMAZING.

S.I.'s Fortune 50
Sports Illustrated released their annual report of the richest athletes for 2009. Topping the list yet again was Tiger Woods with over $90 million. LeBron was fourth on the list, and the highest ranked NFL player was Peyton Manning at number 8. The most obvious point we can deduce from this list is that if you are on the Yankees you have a good chance of being one of the richest sports people in the world.
Words of Wisdom Wednesday: Jordan On LeBron
"There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team.'"
